As a part of Integrity's medical mission the Seeing Is Believing Program provides individuals with reading glasses to enhance their ability to read and do tasks that require clear, up close vision. As a preventive measure, sunglasses are also distributed to provide protection from the damaging effects of the sun.
Countless people suffer from the up close vision loss many experience as a result of aging. Over-the-counter reading glasses provide a simple solution but are not available or affordable for many of the 700 million people living in remote areas and villages around the world. To purchase a pair of reading glasses most people must travel to a city, often a day long trip, and pay for transportation which can be costly. Glasses that are available cost up to $60.00 a pair.
The prevalence of early-onset cataracts due to excessive exposure to sunlight is extremely prevalent in many areas of the world. Cataracts cause cloudy, blurred or dim vision. Sunglasses provide protection from over-exposure to the harmful effects of the sun and help reduce the risk of early cataract development.
Your $5.00 donation enables us to purchase one pair of reading glasses or sunglasses and provides you with the blessing of knowing you have made a difference in one persons' life. We have witnessed and joined people as they have laughed, cried, and danced because they are able to read again! We invite you to dance with them…
